While I love all my couples to pieces, there’s just something extra-special about the ones where I get to bond with the couple over our shared nerdy sides—helloooooo, all things Star Wars and Marvel! So, when I say Elizabeth and Kyle’s Vermillion wedding day was a dream day for me, now you know why! They felt like instant friends from the moment we met, and I can’t wait to share their special day with you.
The morning began in the bridal suite, where I hung out with the bridesmaids and Elizabeth’s parents. Blushing Brit’s expert makeup artistry had our jaws on the floor, and when Elizabeth put on her flower crown (a perfect complement to the flower-overlaid dress she wore from David’s Bridal), she took our breath away. Then, she bear-hugged her parents, stepped into her red-bottom Louboutins, and headed outside for portraits. Many of the family and members of the bridal party arrived early, so we got quite a few portraits done before the ceremony even started. This was an essential element for Elizabeth and Kyle, because they hoped to actually get to attend their cocktail hour! Spoiler alert: it all worked out just as planned!
After some family portraits, we headed out for the first look with Kyle. Framed by towering trees and dappled sunlight, the couple shared a heartfelt moment before heading out for the ceremony.
As the ceremony began, Elizabeth’s older brother nearly stole the show as he did the honors of tossing the flower petals. The self-titled “flower bro” got a massive laugh out of the crowd while tossing the delicate petals around! After the ceremony, I snagged a few more bride and groom shots, and off to the cocktail hour we went! I was happy we took the time to build the family portraits in before the ceremony, because it made the cocktail hour much more fun with everyone present. That’s the beauty of a well-planned wedding timeline—you can emphasize what’s important to you. (Psst…did you know that, as a wedding photographer, I help plan those timelines with you?)
Their Vermillion wedding reception, held at Vermilion on the Lake Clubhouse, was so much fun for everyone. Elizabeth and Kyle cut a cheesecake—their favorite dessert—and had cupcakes out for all the guests. Everyone danced under the disco ball and definitely weren’t shy to bust moves for my camera! Then, as the sun set over Lake Erie, we all headed outside to enjoy it…talk about a photographer’s dream!
Just as I did with the couple, I had a ton of fun getting to nerd out with all the guests about my love for Marvel, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. It’s always so rewarding to get to connect with the guests personally like that! It definitely made this Vermillion wedding day one to remember.
